Frequently Asked Questions

What if my furnace or boiler breaks down?

We always have a service technician on call, with a fully stocked vehicle, ready to come out to your home any time of the day or night.  Just give us a call at (860) 675-6121

Is there anything I can check before I call for "no-heat"?

Yes, be sure to check that your emergency switch is on and that the thermostat is set above room temperature.  Check that there is oil in your tank.  You can press the reset button once on the burner.  If the burner doesn't come on check for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse.  If the system still doesn't run call us for service (860)675-6121.

If I'm a "will-call" customer, when should I order fuel?

When your tank gauge reads ¼ of a tank.  This will insure you don't run out before your delivery.  Generally we will process your order and deliver your fuel within three working days.

How often should my heating system be serviced?

Most manufactures recommend a tune up and a safety inspection of your heating system, by a qualified licensed service technician, at least once a year.  This will prolong the life of your equipment and insure it's running at maximum performance.  A well maintained system, running at peek efficiency, can save you up to 10% annually on heating costs.

When is the best time to schedule the "annual tune-up"?

At the beginning of April thru to the end of September is the best time for all "annual tune-ups" and safety inspections.  During these months the priority "no-heat" service calls are less frequent, which allows our technicians the time needed to properly inspect your heating system.  This will also decrease the possibility of having to reschedule your appointment, due to excessive emergency service calls.

What is the difference between "automatic delivery" and "will-call"?

"Automatic delivery" means that we will automatically determine when you need a fuel delivery by using degree day monitoring.  You do not need to call or order on-line for a delivery.  We will automatically deliver fuel on a regular basis and you won't have to worry about running out of fuel.  "Will-call" means that you will monitor your own tank level and "will call" or order on line when fuel is needed.

How can I save money on my heating bill?

We can install an energy saving programmable thermostat in your home and you could save over $100 a year.  Have us check your hot water temperature to determine if its too hot.  For every 10 degrees we lower it you can save 5% on your heating bill.  Have us "tune-up" your heating system.  A clean running system at maximum efficiency can save you as much as 10% on your heating costs.  We will also check your equipment and determine if the burner can use a smaller size nozzle without compromising performance, further reducing your heating costs.  If your heating system is over 20 years old, replacing it with an new high efficiency system could cut your heating costs up to 50%.
